The flashback is novel and the run time here is crisp. The hero should have shown greater agility in the climax. Rajeev Kanakala could have been less theatrical. The egoistic boss of the hero does bore after a point. The climax fight, about which the makers gloated, is high on substance and rightly avoids gravity-defying moments. There had to be some shocking revelation in the pre climax. There is another element in the second half, pertaining to the villain's identity, and it helps that it's not revealed earlier. And, smartly enough, the character of the lecherous teacher at the school is portrayed to evoke both fear and disgust. For example, Arun discovers that the killer is psychopathic quite early on. The film makes a couple of prudent screenplay choices that make a world of difference. And director Ramesh Varma ensures believability factor. When it comes to thrillers like this one, it's important not to lose sight of believability. This faithful remake of the Tamil film 'Ratsasan' engages the audience throughout, relying more on its story and its anti-social villain. The climax is a battle of brain and brawn.

Written by Ram Kumar, the story has many moments which will leave you thrilled and walk out with a content feeling. You don't get much breathing space in Rakshasudu as the pre-interval and post-interval proceedings are at jet speed. As I was watching the film, someone in the audience screamed 'Pick up the gun', which only proves how the story had the attention of a viewer. The watching experience of the film makes you travel with the character and feel for him as he unearths the mystery killings.

The film is a remake of Tamil hit Ratsasan which had Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul in lead roles. Rakshasudu is a myriad of such things but gets sabotaged by a work-in-progress Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas. If we look at films like Evil Dead, there is always an element of suspense in the narrative. When we talk about mystery thriller film, the narrative plays a prime role in making the film a watchable or unwatchable experience.
